The craft of ceramic making is one of the oldest arts in the world. Deruta has been producing some of the very finest majolica pottery and ceramics since medieval times. Although Deruta is a small town, it is very well-known world-wide for its production of Italian Majolica Ceramics and Pottery. Deruta is located in the Umbria region of Italy on the banks of the Tiber River, just south of the city of Perugia. Deruta is a major manufacturer and exporter of Majolica.
Please note that our imported ceramics are not machine made. They are made by hand. Therefore, it is common to have some small imperfections in the glaze or the painting. You may also notice slight imperfections in the size. These are not considered defects and are actually prized!
